Trying a new layout... Im still working on a way to make the comic work from book to internet and vice versa. Im starting to get there, but im not 100% on it quite yet. Its all an experiment anyway...

JUST SO YOU KNOW: I did not die or anything from my dooring incident. A little banged up in the knee area, but nothing worth writting home about. just in case you were worried. ;)

Rash Decisions (May 2010)

I am a one page book! Print me out >> HERE!

Not sure what a one page book is? Go >> HERE!

Okay, so ive thought long and hard about it, and Ive decided to cut updates down to once a week. Im starting to work more, its nicer outside and I feel like I need to start thinking MORE about the comics, instead of just popping them out one after another. So, the one page books will still be happening, I will be editing the books into internet acceptable comics and they will be posted every Wednesday.

So no update till wednesday of next week! Ill see you cats then!

PS: This comic works much better as a book. I suggest you print it out if you can.

Whats WRONG With Me?! (May 2010)

This comic is also available as a one page book BUT Google Docs is still being a lame-o, so i cant upload the pdf to the internets. BUT if you want the book (which I know you do) please email me and I can get the file to you ASAP. (clairefolkman [at] gmail [dot] com)

But all that aside I still havent decided on how I want to handle the update schedule from here on out. Im thinking twice a week, but ive got a fair amount of free time right now, so im sure the summer with change all that and therefore change the update schedule. We shall just have to wait and see, i guess.

In other news, im working on applying for a comics residency for the fall... so send me your good thoughts and maybe ill get it done!

PS: Incase youre wondering Im currently reading Nora Robert's Irish Born trilogy. Sadly, my copy of the first book was fucked and missing 30 or so pages... this makes me hate my life just a little bit more.

Comic Convention To Do List one page book (May 2010)

So you maybe wondering why this comic looks a little odd? Well thats because its a one page book! Hooray! Im trying to point myself in a direction artisticly where I use the structure of the one page book to create my comics. Below the cut you can see what the comic looks like as a book and get a link to the pdf of the book for printing. (As always, if you arent sure how to fold up a one page book, check out my swanky little instructions >> here.)

Now i have come questions for you, my lovely readers. Id like to keep exploring this one page book idea a little more frequently, but the books take a little longer to make. This means that my update schedule might need a little tweaking. My thought on the whole thing is to keep updating two days a week, but only have one comic per week. Tuesday would be the book format comic (with everything all upside down etc.) with link to the pdf and then Thursday would be the photoshop edited comic (like the one you see above) so that you dont HAVE to print and fold up the book just to read the comic properly.

But I really want to know what you guys think! Should I stick with the two day update schedule but cut down to one comic? Should I cut down to once a week but a big post (like todays with all versions of the comic for viewing) or should I try to keep up twice a week with a new comic each update? If i go that route I can pretty much guarantee I will miss updates left and right, but I could try!

Opinions? Anyone? Bueller?

Make a One Page Book (Feb 2010)

Follow me to the PDF for printing!

This weeks comic is a little different from what you would normally expect here at clairefolkman: a webcomic. What you have here is an authentic Claire Folkman one page book with one catch; you have to put it together! If you click on the comic you will be taken to a pdf file, which you can then print out. After printing, follow the instructions and before you know it, you will have your very own one page book! Pretty neat, huh?

I have a few thoughts about this project:
First off, once you (my lovely readers) have learned this book format, I will hopefully be able to give you MORE one page books via the wonders of the internet. How much fun would that be?!
Secondly, you are free to print as many copies of this and hand them out to as many of your friends, colleagues, acquaintances and strangers as you would like, with my blessing! I am of the mindset that if there are more people who know how to make one page books, there will be more one page books in the world, and how could that be bad?
Lastly, once you learn the format, I hope you will be inspired to create your own one page books and send them to me! I love one page books (incase you didn't already know...) and would be so over joyed to see what you guys make! We will have a free and open exchange of one page books from all over, thanks to the internet! Ah, the blessings of technology.

So, its all up to you now. Print out the book, make it and see where you go from there! I just know something incredible will come out of all this. As always, if you guys have any questions/ comments/ concerns, please feel free to email me. My email address is listed in my bio at the very bottom of the blog.

NOTE: I DID NOT INVENT THIS BOOK FORMAT. I ONLY DREW THE PICTURES.
